A Prayer For Us (Marriage)
Father, today I want to thank you for the gift of my spouse. I recognize him/her as a blessing from you.
It was you Lord that created marriage, it was your idea and your design for two to become one flesh.
It is my desire to honor you Lord in my marriage. So today I ask you to help me be the very best husband/wife that I can be. I ask you to make me more like Jesus in every area of my life. I ask you to form your character within me.
I ask you to make me more conscious of my own sins and shortcomings than I am of my partner’s.
I pray that my spouse and I will be filled with your joy and that your joy will be our strength. I pray that we would both have the fruit of Your Spirit; love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Help us Lord to be quick to forgive one another just as you have forgiven us.
I refuse to hold on to any bitterness that would attempt to poison my marriage.
I totally release my spouse of any past sins against me, and today we are free to love one another without guilt or shame.
Father help me to serve my spouse with a pure heart and pure motives, and remind me when I fail to do so.
Let me find pleasure in being a blessing to them and help me to recognize the good things you’ve placed inside them.
God we want to grow in every form of intimacy – spiritually, emotionally and physically.
Keep us growing together, and reveal to us when we begin to grow apart.
Help us Lord to honor you in our home, in the workplace, and with our finances.
Let every choice we make be in unity and motivated by a passion to be a light to the world.
I know that satan hates marriage because it is a beautiful example of your love for mankind, so Lord keep us sensitive to the times that he tries to bring strife, anger and division into this marriage and Lord give us the courage to fight for our relationship at all times. Keep us wise to enemies of our covenant, such as lust, jealousy, pride or a lack of boundaries and help us to be quick to come back to you, and back to one another.
Father we love you and we love one another because you first loved us.
Today I speak and pray blessings over my spouse in the name of Jesus, Amen!
